A merry heart does good, like medicine. (Proverbs 17:22)
At some point in your life, you have probably met, known, or worked with or for someone who took themselves way too seriously. A particular manager comes to mind when I think about it. It doesn't matter what kind of situation this person was in, it was ALL business, ALL the time. I am sure that once this person came home to his wife and children and the monkey suit was hanging in the closet, he became more vulnerable and let his guard down; but NEVER at the workplace or any work function for that matter.
I have always tried to incorporate my sense of humor into work and every aspect of my life. It's not like I am the President of the United States or anything. There are people I know that walk around in a permanent doom and gloom most of the time and they simply need to just lighten up a little. A little laughter goes a long way in helping you get back up again when you have been knocked down.
I think Jesus was onto something when He said to be like children; they often times don't have a care in the world and realize the importance of not taking themselves too seriously! Laughter breeds resilience, so turn that frown upside down!
