Give Peace a Chance

Depart from evil and do good; seek, inquire for, and crave peace and pursue (go after) it! (Psalm 34:14)

Of all shows to pull together some thoughts on finding peace, the Showtime series, "Dexter," provided me with some inspiration recently.  One of the main characters in Season 2, FBI Agent Lundy, would often take a break from all of the chaos in tracking down serial killers at 1pm every afternoon by stopping all work and enjoying a cucumber sandwich.  For some strange reason, this inspired me to stop all of the chaos in my normal routine to seek God and rest in peace.

God wants us to enjoy peace on a regular basis.  He instructs each of us to dwell on His Word and to live in harmony and unity with others.  If God wants us to enjoy peace, why is it so difficult for us to find it? The simple answer is the enemy, who wants us to stray away from God's Word and peace, which brings strife and destruction into the forefront of our lives.

We must remember that God's power is much greater than the devil's, so take the time each day to enjoy the wonderful peace and presence of God.
