Tumbling Down

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." (Jeremiah 29:11)

I chose today's passage of scripture, not because it's one of my favorite verses in the Bible, but because it's good to be reminded if God's plan for his people when things aren't going well at all.

The past two years have been very difficult for a number of businesses due to an economic downturn. In fact, a friend that runs a resume business in Knoxville told me that most resumes show high-dollar salaries and job titles until things changed in 2008. Companies are downsizing, or going out of business, and the same highly compensated and experienced workers are settling for entry-level positions, if they can find employment at all.

How do you think someone would react to God's promise from Jeremiah if they are struggling to make ends meet? What about someone who has built their entire life around their career only to have it crash down?

We all need to remember that God is good to his people all the time and all the time, he is good.
