Our House

Love must be sincere.  Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.  Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.  Honor one another above yourselves.  Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.  Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.  Share with God's people in need.  Practice hospitality.  (Romans 12:10-13)

One of the things I like most about our neighborhood is that it is reminds me of the neighborhood I grew up in back in Greenville, SC.  Most of the neighbors come outside in the evenings after work and let the children play together in the yard while the adults enjoy fellowship.  It's because of this "throw-back" neighborhood that we have met some incredible people in which we have established close and meaningful friendships.

God gives us abundant opportunities to honor people every day.  At work, we honor our bosses so that they will reward our efforts.  The other way we honor God is by loving others.  We have a variety of personalities, interests and passions within our subdivision.  In fact, a friendly rivalry between a huge Jets fan and Patriots fanatic is always fun to observe.  We are all created in His image and sometimes it's hard for us to put aside our competitive nature and simply love one another.  However, it's when we are not trying to outdo one another that we put others first.  When we put others first, we honor our neighbors with hospitality and love.

Father, give us the eyes to see, hearts to love, and hands to serve those in need. Amen.
