Where, O death is your victory? Where, O death is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:55-58)
I was talking with a co-worker today and we were discussing a television program her and her husband had recently watched that had them both thinking that the world was coming to an end sometime in the near future. She cited several passages from the book of Revelation and I reassured her that no one knows when Christ will actually return. No one is guaranteed tomorrow, but as a follower of Christ, I am assured about where I am going when my time is up and I do leave this earth.
It's so easy to get caught up in the "doom and gloom" that the media reports, we can easily lose our heavenly perspective. If we truly believe that Christ conquered the grave, this fact should change the way we are living-right now.
We shouldn't feel discouraged thinking that we are not seeing any of the results from our good efforts, but trust in knowing that our work on this earth will yield eternal results!
