Money Talks

Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything.  (Proverbs 11:24)

Something that always boggled me when I worked as a youth minister was tithing-giving 10% of your income to the church.   The members of the congregation that did not have much, often gave well above their means while many of the wealthy often gave very little.

What is the point of our life on earth?  Is it to just work and make as much money as possible or is there something more? The verse from Proverbs presents a paradox-the more we give, the richer we become.  When we give, God supplies us with even more so that we can give more.  Giving helps to keep us grounded and gives us the proper perspective on our possessions.

Generosity is the opposite of greed; God promises the more you give, the more you receive.
