It's The End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)

Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be?  You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming...but keeping with His promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.  (2 Peter 3:11-13)

As I was preparing to lead Sunday School this past weekend, I Googled the phrase "the end of the world" and found several websites dedicated to this coming event.  Most of the websites based this fact on the end of the Mayan calendar which means the world will come to an end on December 21, 2012.  I don't think that we should be too concerned with that date, after all, people have been trying to predict end times for thousands of years; all of them have been wrong.

The Bible gives us a prophecy that we can rely on; Jesus will come back to judge this earth.  The thing is that we don't have any idea of when that is going to take place.  Since we don't have any clue as to when this will take place, it's important for us to live each and every day like it will be our last.

Christ's second coming will be a sudden and terrible surprise for those who do not believe in Him.  For those of us that do believe, it will be a great and glorious event!!!
