You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you. (Romans 8:9-11)
I am not sure what is going on lately, but it seems like there is so much negativity everywhere I turn. Whether it is in the news, neighbors, friends, co-workers, and most recently sports talk/media, people are not living with a sense of peace and life that God gives to each of us when we choose to live in the Spirit.
We all now that our days on this earth are numbered the second we take our first breath. There is no fountain of youth or time machine DeLoreans that I am aware of, so you can bet that one day you will leave this earth. The sinful life is on a collision course with death, hostility, insubordination and unacceptability to God. The latter, life in the Holy Spirit, is in every believer.
We must make sure that we are living our lives in such a manner that the Holy Spirit is in total control; not our selfish flesh lives. Christians are indwelt by the life-giving Spirit as a result of their justifications.
