Forever Young

Jesus said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.  Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child as the greatest in the kingdom of heaven."  (Matthew 18:2-4)

Our three-year old, Elliott, pitched a royal fit yesterday morning before he left the house to go to a birthday party.  The cause of the drama, was that Elliott wanted to bring his "Thomas the Tank Engine" train track to the birthday party at the local bounce house.  Had you witnessed this childish outburst, you would have thought we told Elliott that Santa Claus wasn't planning to stop by our house this Christmas or something worse!  Oh what I would do to deal with the troubles of a three-year old again.

Jesus' words from Matthew were directed to his disciples about being self-centered.  We are not to be childish like his disciples sometimes acted, bickering over petty issues, but childlike-humbled and sincere in our behavior.

I think often about the way our children act with sincerity and humbled hearts.  The adult world sure could use more of it, IMHO!!!
