Temptation

Now that we know what we have...let's not let it slip through our fingers.  We don't have a priest who is out of touch with our reality.  He's been through weakness and testing, experienced it all-all but the sin.  So let's walk right up to Him and get what He is so ready to give.  Take mercy, accept the help.  (Hebrews 4:15-16, The Message)

The older I become, the more I have come to respect others who share completely different points of view on life.  Many of my friends are on the opposite sides of the spectrum when it comes to religion, politics, music, and even sports.  Finding a middle ground can be tricky at times, but I really try to relate to people that share a differing point of view.  Thousands of years ago, the high priests were an elite bunch that people simply couldn't relate to.

Let this sink in for a moment-the Creator of all of the heavens and earth lived here among us as a human being and faced the exact same temptations that all of us continue to face today.  The only difference was that Jesus was the only "perfect" human being that has ever lived; He never gave into any temptation.

We can be comforted knowing that He faced the seductive lure of temptation and never sinned, so He can relate to us in every way.  He loves us and can sympathize with us so that we do not have to sin when we are tempted!  Thanks be to God!!
