Eye of the Tiger

Of course, you get no credit for being patient if you are beaten for doing wrong.  But if you suffer for doing good and endure it patiently, God is pleased with you.  (1 Peter 2:20)

Let me say how proud I am of my Auburn Tigers.  The past two weeks, they have faced tough and well-coached opponents in both Clemson and South Carolina.  In both games, they have started out slow, but managed to comeback and win in such a fashion that is bad for this AUburn fan's heart.

Their commitment to win and not give up is a great analogy to use for the life of a believer.  Almost every Christian will endure difficulties and persecution during this lifetime.  In many countries, Christians are tortured and often die for their faith.

When you feel like giving up, you are being short-sighted and too focused on this life and not the eternal one you are promised.  Not only is endurance through suffering necessary for the prize of eternal life, but when we endure hardships, we hold a special place in God's heart!
