The Other Side

Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side.  (Matthew 14:22)

Being a father has it's advantages as I can certainly draw a lot of inspiration for writing from my daily experiences.  We had Elliott's birthday party over the weekend at a very cool gymnastics center in Knoxville.  This place was filled with standard gymnastics equipment but there were also some large rope swings and vats of soft foam that the children could jump into.  Elliott was a little weary to take the plunge from the highest rope swing.  In fact, he insisted that one of parents or grandparents go first, so Alicia got to be the first to try it out.

This reminded me of the story in Matthew 14 where Jesus asked the disciples to board the boat before Him and He promised that He would meet them on the other side.  He never gave any specific details nor did He bother to tell them just how He was going to cross the Sea of Galilee.

Sometimes we just have to trust God without knowing any of the specific details.  If you are like me, this is proves to be very difficult as I like to know who, what, where, when, and why.

The Lord may not give us every detail of His plan so we should not require to know every detail or know all things either.  We just need to obey Him and trust that His timing is perfect and good, as it always is.
