The Long and Winding Road

This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.  Ephesians 4:13

Our youngest son, Elijah, had his 18 month wellness visit earlier this week.  I am proud to say that he is right on target with all of the suggest growth standards, vocabulary, word count, understanding and acknowledgement, etc.  What if a believer’s perfection was measured with a chart?  How would we measure up?

First of all, a believer’s perfection is not a flawless imitation of God but rather a process of maturing into a purer and more godly person.  Growing in godliness means becoming more like God, even when we fall way short of his perfect standards.

However, the process of reflecting more and more of God’s nature will be completed when we reach heaven, and then indeed we will be considered ‘perfect.’
