Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.  Philippians 4:6

I recently read a fantastic devotional on the topic of trust-more specifically,trusting God.  The good Lord delivered that message in His perfect timing as I found myself on my knees, praying, and trying my best to trust Him with my current circumstances before the end of the work day on Monday.

The best way to overcome worry in your life is to have a greater awareness of God’s presence.  I like to look in the past at all that God has done for me over the course of my lifetime to know that He isn’t going to stop now because of my present circumstances.  I have faced all sorts of trials and circumstances during my lifetime, but no matter how big they were, God has always been and will always be bigger!

We must let God know that we do sincerely trust Him, with all of our being.  We must also continue to praise Him for all that He has done, all He is doing, and all He is going to do!  Doing so will give us greater calm to face the day with the confidence that we are loved by the King of all Kings, our Savior, our Provider, our Deliverer, and our Rock.

Do You Want To Know A Secret?

The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law. Deuteronomy 29:29

All parents certainly have a few "secrets" that they do not share with their children.  Major holidays come to mind...the true identity of the Easter bunny and Santa Claus, to name a few. I could name several occasions where we have had to smuggle medicine into the boys’ food or drinks so that they would feel better..."Daddy, why is the milk pink?" "Yes son, I enjoy Justin Beiber's music. Let's hear 'Baby' again."

The more I think about it, there are many things that we too will probably never fully understand about God...secrets, if you will.

When we fully trust God's lead in our lives, we need to allow Him to direct our every step, each and every day. If you are like me, you kind of like to know how things are going to work out, but with our Loving Father, not knowing the future and trusting Him the same are what is most important in our walk of faith.

Whenever we find ourselves anxious about the future, or worrying, we must repent and return to God. There are many things we will never know or even begin to understand, but we must put our trust into the One who does know exactly what the future holds for us.

Hold On

"Not as I will, but as Youwill." –Jesus Christ,  Matthew 26:39

The above statement was Jesus' final submission to God inthe garden of Gethsemane before He was taken captive by a large crowd of armedmen who ultimately led Him to His death on the cross after He was brutallybeaten, publicly humiliated, and tortured. 

I have a bad habit of selfishly asking God to answer myprayers in the way that I would like them to be answered.  Evenwhen He gives me clear direction, I still do not always remain obedient andfollow His will.  Regardless, I truly believe that the content of ourprayers is less important to Him rather than our willingness to actually obeyHim.

I can't begin to imagine what Jesus must have felt thatnight in Gethsemane.  The fear of knowing that His death was close athand...seeing one of His Twelve disciples betray Him with a kiss and turn Himover to an armed mob.  Despite all of this, He remained faithful and obedient to God'swill...even to the point of death.

We may not ever face a life or death decision, but God wantsus to come to a place where we trust Him fully and obey Him, with every aspectof our lives.
