Enjoy The Silence

Rejoice in hope, endure in suffering, persist in prayer.  Romans 12: 12

Being a bit active and at times, quite talkative, I always struggle when I receive little or no interaction from my 'captive' audience, while making a presentation for work.  The same holds true in my prayer life, especially when I am praying with passion and feel that God is not answering me or seems to be a million miles away.   I don’t believe that I am alone in the way that I feel, as many other Christians probably lack some anticipation of having their prayers answered.

Our society doesn't help us with being patient in our prayer life as we wait for God to answer us in His perfect timing, either.  We live in a society that due to modern technology expects instant results.

We are to remain vibrant and faithful in our prayer life.  It is too easy to become discouraged and feel as though God is not listening when all we perceive is silence.  I am thankful for many unanswered prayers that I have petitioned God with and it has certainly helped to mature my faith by leaps and bounds.  We must come to a place of understanding His presence is always with us if we are grow our relationship with Him; in doing so, we will have a deeper relationship with God, despite our prayers not being answered.

Continue to pray and be hopeful even if you are suffering; God is always with you!!

Enjoy The Silence

When you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private.  Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.  Matthew 6:6

Moments of peace and quiet are a rarity for me these days, especially with two young children.  If it's not loud toys, video games, singing or playing, there is almost always some kind of noise inside the walls of our home.  Finding quiet moments to pray certainly requires a commitment of waking up extra early each and every morning for me..

Jesus often retreated to pray in solitude after speaking to large crowds, teaching His disciples, or performing miracles.  He knew the value of spending those quiet moments in conversation with His Father.

Regardless of how hectic and busy our lives are, we must always save some time to be still and quiet so that we may hear God's voice.  Even if it's a few quick seconds a day in the car or even in the bathroom, find the time to enjoy His presence every day...He promises to hear you and will reward you!

Pray

The disciples asked Jesus "Why could we not drive it (the demon) out?" He replied, "This kind can come out only by prayer." Mark 9:28-29

We all have been given a direct line to communicate with God though prayer.  The disciples would often face difficult situations that could only be resolved through prayer.

It's hard to sometimes grasp the values of God's eternal kingdom, especially when we are facing trials and suffering in our own lives.  Jonah said, "When my life was ebbing away, I remembered you Lord" (Jonah 2:7)  We often act the same way.  When life is going well, we tend to take God for granted, but when lose our hope, we cry out to him.  This kind of inconsistent and fair-weathered relationship with God can only result in an inconsistent spiritual life.

We must constantly stay on our knees, in prayer with God each and every day, during both good times and bad ones.  Not only will we have stronger spiritual lives, but we can do great things in the name of our loving Father!

Call On Me

The Lord is close to all who call on Him, yes, to all who call on Him in truth.  Psalm 145:18

There are few things I enjoy more in life than having one of my children seek my limited wisdom on something.  Usually, the questions are pertaining to Star Wars or superheroes, but it still warms my heart.

Our prayers to God are received in much the same way.  Prayer is our way to share an intimate conversation with our heavenly Father.  It’s through prayer that God makes His love and resources available to us.

Just as we enjoy being with the people we love, the more learn to enjoy spending time with God, the more we get to know Him and understand just how much He truly loves us.

Thanks be to God!!
