The Road

This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.  Ephesians 4:13

Our two boys, are growing up way too fast.  It's hard for me to believe that our youngest, Elijah, will be celebrating his 9th birthday in August, but I am proud to say that he, just like his older brother Elliott, is excelling in both school and sports. He was recently selected to the HVES All-Star team in basketball.  I am a very proud father to say the very least.

This got me thinking, what if a believer’s walk of faith was determined with a grading system or final score?  How would we measure up?

A believer’s perfection is not a flawless imitation of God but rather a process of maturing into a purer and more godly person.  Growing in godliness means becoming more like God, even when we fall way short of his perfect standards, and believe me when I say that quite often I fail to measure up.

Let us remember that the process of reflecting more and more of God’s nature will be completed when we reach heaven, and then indeed we will finally be considered ‘perfect.’

Our two sons, are growing up too quick.  It's hard for me to believe that our youngest, Elijah, will be celebrating his 8th birthday in August, but I am proud to say that he, just like his older brother Elliott, is excelling in both school and sports. I am a very proud father to say the least.

Our youngest son, Elijah, is growing up quickly.  It's hard for me to believe that he will be celebrating his 7th birthday in August, but I am proud to say that he is on target with all of the suggest growth standards-  spelling, vocabulary, reading levels, math, and is now even playing up basketball on the HVES Hawks team.

What if a believer’s walk of faith was determined with a chart?  How would we measure up?

Our youngest son, Elijah, is growing up quickly.  It's hard for me to believe that he will be celebrating his 5th birthday in August, but I am proud to say that he is on target with all of the suggest growth standards, vocabulary, word count, understanding and acknowledgement, and is now completing his weekly chores to earn allowance money.

Get Closer

The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations.  Psalm 33:11

Getting closer to another person is essential for any relationship, friendship, or marriage to grow and flourish.  The same holds true for our loving Father who has a desire to grow closer to each of us in an intimate relationship.

The course of our lifetime is spent growing closer to Him, following His will as God meets our needs.  All of this is part of His plan to fashion each one of us into the beings that will spend eternity with Him at the end of our lives on this earth.

God sometimes postpones or delays meeting some of our needs in order to bring us to a place of dependence on Him, so that we realize that we need Him, which, in the end, draws us closer to Him.

Walk every day in fellowship with the Lord and draw closer to Him as He will do the same and draw closer to you.
